Litecoin Mining Pool Comparison
Litecoin mining it is the process using your own computer’s CPU (Central Processing Unit) and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to process transactions for the Litecoin network. By doing this you can attempt to solve a ‘block’ which pays out a reward. Currently the Litecoin reward per block is 50 Litecoins.
Unlike Bitcoin, CPUs can still contribute enough hashing power to be significant to Litecoin, though this may quickly change. In fact, this was one of the original design features of Litecoin. Because Litecoin uses a scrypt encryption algorithm there is a much smaller efficiency gap between CPU mining and GPU mining. For this reason the Litecoin client still has a built in CPU mining program.
Another important concept of modern mining is pool mining. A litecoin mining pool is a group of miner’s that pool their resources together so that they can find blocks faster. The reward is then split between the pool members based on their contributions.
Mining Pools
In pooled mining multiple clients contribute to the generation of a block, and then split the block reward according to the amount of contributed processing power. Pooled mining effectively increases the speed at which blocks are mined.
Public Pools the following is a list of public pools. You are usually required to register an account on the pools and configure your miners on portal account pages before mining. Each pool may have different payment methods so select which ever is best for you.
• Litecoin Mining Pool – 0% Fee | PPLNS | STRATUM | Port 80
• Litepool LowFee – New Pool – PPLNS They are running both a STRATUM mining pool, and a good old fasioned Longpolling (Pushpool) pool. Your choice is which one to use!
• Bigltc NO FEE PPLNS Pool PPLNS Payout scheme – hopping proof. Currently NO FEE! Stratum support soon to be added. Idle worker E-Mail Notifications. Instant Cash-Out Function. Rock solid hosting in Germany.
• Litecoin Pool 2.5% Fee
• Burnside’s Litecoin Mining Pool 0%. Long polling support. Dead worker monitoring and notification via email. A profit calculator. Near real-time hash stats and comparison charts. A transaction fee of 0.05 LTC per transaction. (to cover fees the litecoin client automatically adds.) A pay per last n shares (500000) round scoring.
• Pool-X 2% Fee, 0.05 Fee on withdraws. Block explorer links. PPLNS payout. Long-polling, sends new work to miners on new blocks. Salted & hashed Passwords. Encrypted Litecoin wallet, offsite backup & insurence. 20 sec site updates & auto payout checks. Fully Automated, instant Bonuses & Promos.
• OzCoin 2%fee
• Litecoin mining pool 0% Fee The main purpose of this site is to provide the possibility of Litecoin collective mining. Our pool uses PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Shares) payout method.
• Elitist Jerks 3% Fee Pool and PPS Payout (“Pay Per Share”): Each submitted share is worth certain amount of LTC.
• PooledBits 0% Fee PooledBits uses a PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Shares) payment method. What this means is that when a block is found by the pool, rewards are distributed to everyone based on the number of shares they contributed.
• HashFaster 0% Fee Litecoin mining pool, open to public registration and use!
• LTCRabbit litcoin pool 3.8% Fee Whether your miner has only a very small hashrate (CPU) or big one (GPU) the rabbit now serves your miner work with adaptive difficulty (VARDIFF). That improves perfomance for small and large miners!
Reward Types:
Proportional When a block is found, the reward is distributed among all workers proportionally to how many shares each of them has found.
PPLNS Pay Per Last N Shares. Similar to proportional, but instead of looking at the number of shares in the round, instead looks at the last N shares, regardless of round boundaries.
DGM Double Geometric Method. A hybrid between PPLNS and Geometric reward types that enables to operator to absorb some of the variance risk. Operator receives portion of payout on short rounds and returns it on longer rounds to normalize payments.
PPS Pay Per Share. Each submitted share is worth a certain amount of litecoins. It is risky for pool operators, hence the fee is highest.
RBPPS Round-Based Pay Per Share. Like PPS, but payouts are delayed till a block is found and confirmed by the network. If a found block gets orphaned, earnings relative to it are not paid.
SMPPS Shared Maximum Pay Per Share. Like PPS, but never pays more than the pool earns.
RSMPPS Recent Shared Maximum Pay Per Share. Like SMPPS, but aims to prioritize the most recent miners.
CPPSRB Capped Pay Per Share with Recent Backpay.
P2Pool Public Nodes the following is a list of P2Pool nodes that can be used by the public. All nodes require no registration and can be connected to by simply passing your LTC address as the username and anything as the password.
• Mine-Litecoin Customized load balancing ensuring fast speeds across servers. Secure. DDOS Migration. Less than .01 stales. 8 server farm. Currently there are 90 miners hacking away. 0 Fees. 2LTC bonus to block finder.
• Carnth’s P2Pool Los Angeles
• My Litecoin Pool
• P2Pool LTC
• Syari.net LTC
